So I want to go and broach I think what is going to be one of the first controversies we have to face unless they’ve resolved it. Like I think both the storytelling and the setup of like what it means to be undead is hugely bearable. And even if you’re playing other games, there’s actually some really cool storytelling devices in here and like lore that you could borrow. However, these problems are likely more Amazon’sįault than Delicious Monster’s, and it’s not difficult to make corrections when the automated lookup fails in some way.ĭelicious Library isn’t just a dumb container for your media. I scanned my Blu-ray disc of “The Matrix” and I had to manually set it as a movie - Delicious Library thought it was a video game. Sometimes Delicious Library gets confused about what type of media something is. I was surprised to find “Scion’s Lady,” “Outside the Dog Museum,” “The Flood (Halo #2),” and “Ringworld” in my book collection, as I don’t own them! I can only assume that this is due to UPCs being reused over time. Even worse, it gets some items wrong - particularly books. Some of my scanned items turned up blank - as either generic cardboard or white boxes. While Delicious Scanner is great, the data pulled up from Amazon isn’t always right. In a well-lit room, I can plow through a stack of movies in seconds. Once it’s paired with your Mac, it’s one of the fastest iPhone barcode scanners I’ve used. While Delicious Scanner has yet to be updated for iOS 7, it still works perfectly. But my favorite is the free Delicious Scanner iOS app, which uses the camera on your iPhone or iPad to scan and store barcodes, then send them to Delicious Library on your Mac over Wi-Fi. There are a number of ways to add items: manually by laboriously typing the product name and metadata, searching within Amazon, dropping an Amazon URL on the app, or scanning with a Bluetooth barcode scanner. If you've ever heard "I've got a good ol' Labrador truck" because the chassis's just like it was brand-new. We don't really deal with a whole lot of rust. Especially there's a lot of things that are in people's backyards but we don't have rust. In Labrador, we do have a decent variety of vehicles. At least they did, once upon a time.ĬB: Ross made a good point there. They didn't salt until the last couple years. RH: In Labrador, we don't have a lot of salt. You know, if the oil looks good, then these parts are actually really good to use. Just because the chassis is rusted out, if the engine only has 50,000, that's a good sign. In Labrador, we love when we have these old used vehicles that we find that are still good. When they're tired of looking at it as an ornament in their back yard. But there is the odd time that they just want to sell it and get rid of it. And sometimes they don't want to get rid of them. But you know what? In Labrador, everyone's got a vehicle stored away in their backyard that they hold a lot of sentimental value for. We're starting to see a lot of newer models now. Where are they all coming from?ĬB: There are quite a few vehicles. They were all dirt roads.ĪT: It seems like for a place as remote as North West River, you're able to find a lot of cars and trucks. You could drive a car as long as you had one, that's all. So there was no licence, registration, insurance, nothing needed on our side of the river. When we were small, when we were 15 years old, we had cars and we didn't even have to have a driver's licence in our town – because the town was divided by a river and you could only get over in a cable car. Hitting these jumps and these bumps, and, it was a lot of fun. Everybody would hop in and we would go around the pits. Drive them around and we used to do like derby cars. We used to buy cars and fix them up and we used to drive them up in the pits. I never told them (my parents) yet about that, so hopefully I won't get in trouble for it. My parents were out of town, and I took this car for a ride with my buddies. I actually purchased a car for $200 off of a friend. What was it like when you first got started?ĬB: When we were 13 years old, when we were in high school. That I traded for a motorcycle that I had.ĪT: Now, you've both been big into cars for a very long time. Ross Humby: My first car was probably an old Chevy Vega. So yeah, that 1973 Dodge Charger was definitely my first one. I basically bought it just to say I owned a car. But there was a lot of other good parts on it. And I wanted to rebuild it, but it just had a little too much rust. That's what the crew of CRB Automotive does on Discovery's Last Stop Garage. Instead, you need to make it yourself using whatever you can find. You can't just order in a new piece of equipment, especially if you need it sometime within the year. When you're that far from civilization, you need to be a little more self-sufficient. North West River is about as far north as you can drive on the East Coast, and it's the end of the road. If you want to go to a city, you're looking at a plane trip. The nearest place of note is eight hours away by car, and the road that can take you there didn't even exist 15 years ago. The Saturn did not sell well and in my opinion, lack of backward-compatibility was a direct cause…especially if someone had just dumped money on a $200 Sega CD and a $150 32x…after already spending at least $100 on a Genesis! That’s certainly why I didn’t buy it. I mean, even though the Saturn was really expensive, what kid wouldn’t want one system that played all of the awesome Sega games, plus “real” versions of the arcade games? Well, in the end, it was apparently too complicated and cost too much for Sega to make the system backward compatible. – It was originally rumored to be backwards compatible with all the other Sega systems: Genesis, Sega CD and the 32x iterations of both.īackward compatibility would have been awesome. Since I always worshiped the arcade versions of After Burner, OutRun and Daytona, I was thrilled! – It was made for the purpose of bringing an identical arcade experience into your home. When the rumors first started (via magazines and game-store-chat…the internet still hadn’t caught on as big as it is now), I got really excited for two main reasons: The Saturn was first rumored around the end of the 16-bit era. Please don’t take offence, these are just my opinions. If you grew up playing PS3, you’ll probably have the opposite opinions on most things. Since it was completely new to me, I thought I’d do a short review of the system and the games that interested me most…but please keep in mind, this “review” is from the perspective of someone who normally prefers games from the 8-bit or 16-bit era. I had never used a Saturn until around the time that I’d started this website. |
